Veteran musician releases fourth solo CD

Steve Jones, who hails from central Maine, performs both solo and collaboratively with a number of other Maine musicians and bands, including The Boneheads and Dirigo.

Steve picked up the guitar at a young age and has never put it down. His musical influences as a kid include Bob Dylan, The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix and the Rolling Stones.

He has performed around Maine, New England and beyond for close to 30 years, and currently teaches at The Musician’s 1^st Choice on Western Avenue in Augusta.

Steve has been involved in several projects throughout  the years, such as performing with The Coming Grass and composing original music for a series of TV and radio ads for Bangor Savings Bank, to name a few.

For many years, The Boneheads traveled up and down the East Coast and as far west as Colorado, and have had the pleasure of backing up bigger acts such as Bo Didley, B.B. King, Little Feat, Rick Danko from The Band and the Marvelettes.

On most any given evening, you can catch Steve performing anywhere from local Hallowell establishments, to Boothbay Harbor, to Portland venues, and elsewhere – either solo or with the Boneheads, Dirigo, or a number of other musicians.

Steve has just released his fourth solo CD called “It’s Different Every Day” on Cornmeal Records that he produced with Bob Colwell at The Root Cellar in Hallowell. Several other musicians can be heard performing a variety of instruments or vocals on the CD with him. He recorded 32 songs in total and picked 12 for this album. A lot of the lyrics on this CD are based on conversations Steve had with people along the way. “Something will crack me up and I’ll write about it or I’ll meditate on something,” he said.

He has also written music and produced CDs with The Boneheads and Dirigo.

The CD is available at 1^st Musician’s Choice in Augusta, Bull Moose stores and at his gigs.
