Dirigo is a Strangefolk/Maine-super group of sorts, featuring Luke Patchen Montgomery and Erik Glockler, who hail from the renowned New England jam band Strangefolk, along with Maine Guitar Legend Stephan B. Jones and Maine Drum Goddess Ginger Cote.

All of the band members live in central Maine with the exception of Luke Patchen Montgomery. Patchen, however, is so enamored with the beautiful state of Maine that he convinced band members to call themselves Dirigo, which is the Maine state motto meaning “I lead.”

Stevie Jones has been involved in countless projects over the last three decades, and is well known for his involvement in The Boneheads and The Coming Grass.

Ginger Cote also was a member of The Coming Grass, and has shared a stage with Bonnie Raitt, Cindy Bullens, Emmy Lou Harris, Lucinda Williams, and currently plays with Darien Brahms when she’s not getting down with Dirigo.

Dirigo’s inaugural album is entitled “Jamericana,” and has been released on Cornmeal Records.  Dirigo’s sound might remind you of the Black Crowes with songwriting in the vein of Tom Petty. The band plays well to any crowd that appreciates the music of Johnny Cash, the Beatles, The Black Crowes and the like.

The new CD is available at all Bull Moose stores throughout Maine and in Portsmouth and Salem, N.H. It is also available on line at
